Shabbat Shalom
This weeks parsha is the first funeral of the Jewish people. The biggest and most beautiful lesson we see here is that the portion is called “the life of Sarah”, our first matriarch. The concentration is on the fulfillment of a long, full journey. The lesson we can take with us is that even death is an important moment of life, a ceremonial moment in which we can celebrate each step, each lesson learned, each breath that was taken during that life.
Each year, when we at CJF read this Torah portion, we are reminded of how humbled and grateful we are to serve our community and to be able to signify the end of a life with dignity and love.
Shabbat shalom.
