Sweet Memories
Recently we had the privilege of hosting a graveside funeral service that was as unique as the individual being remembered. One of the simple things that brought the deceased immense joy was ice cream. At the family’s request, we brainstormed a way to somehow include this sweet treat into the funeral service. Upon conclusion of the prayers at the graveside, the guests were met with the familiar jingle of the Good Humor truck – an unexpected but heartfelt detail amidst a somber day. As family and friends approached the truck, they were invited to choose their favorite flavors and suddenly there was laughter mingled with tears. You could feel the weight of loss ease up just a little bit.
It might seem small, but the ice cream truck became a symbol of joy and celebration, providing a momentary respite from grief. A unique detail like this reminds us that a funeral can also be a reflection of the personality, passions, and the love shared by the deceased. We can embrace the idea that joy and sorrow can coexist. If you have a special idea or request for a personalized service, we would love to hear from you.
