Phoebe Jacobson
Therapy Dog
Phoebe Jacobson joined the Jacobson family in November of 2007 and brought love, trust, and joy to their lives, as well as to everyone who met her.
Her incredible poise and calming energy led her to become a beloved therapy dog, often attending funerals and joining families in mourning to offer comfort and support in her unique and gentle way. Phoebe treasured her work at Chicago Jewish Funerals, where she considered the chapel another home, and she was always grateful for the caring staff, friends, neighbors, and family who surrounded her.
For many years, she hosted “Bingo with Phoebe and Friends” at the Lieberman Geriatric Center, where she loved visiting her Bubby, Rosalind Jacobson z”l, and many other wonderful elderly friends. When she wasn’t in the Skokie chapel, Phoebe could often be found at Bent Park, the Skokie Nature Reserve, or snuggled in the lap of a loved one.
She brought her family together by providing endless love, inspiration and snuggles in the best and worst of times. She brought energy and light to her home, her neighborhood, and everyone who met her. In her almost 18 years of life, Phoebe attended family simchas around the world, always attended Shabbat and holiday dinners on a lap at the table and enjoyed many a beach.
Phoebe passed away in August 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, warmth, and connection. She will be remembered always for the comfort she gave, the joy she spread, and the deep bonds she created throughout her life.
