DAVID I JACOBSON

FOUNDER

In August 1997, David Jacobson founded Chicago Jewish Funerals because he believed there was a need to provide a service that was as attentive to the needs of the bereaved as it was to the strong traditions of the Jewish people.

An active member of the Jewish community, David is a leading expert on Kavod Hamet, the Jewish traditions of honoring and respecting the dead. He is a frequent speaker at many of the Chicago area’s congregations, community groups and schools. He is often asked to speak to young people and their families about the dying process, Jewish funeral traditions and bereavement. David is a proud Jewish Funeral Director. David lives in Evanston with his wife Iris, and their dog Phoebe, “the most wonderful dog in the world”. David and Iris enjoy visiting their 3 children: Talia (husband Tom), Gabriel (wife Julia and son Nevo) who live in Israel; and their younger daughter Sage who lives in Boston.
