OBITUARY

Joan Green, nee Sogolow, age 90.

Beloved wife for 67 years of the late Robert B. Green. Loving mother of Bruce (Elaine) Greenberg, Diane Green-Kelly (Geoff) and Lynne (Michael) Lieber. Proud grandmother of Cara Cantwell (Patrick), David Smith (Logan Steiner), Ariella (Marc) Fiedler, Danya (Brian) Sundh, Jimmy (Jessica), Ben and Jack Lieber. Adored great grandmother of Eleanor, Raquel and Margaret Cantwell, Preston and Shayna Sundh, Sammie and Shoshana Fiedler, Charlie Lieber and Noa Steiner Smith. Resident of Highland Park for over 50 years. Joan, a retired executive secretary for more than 20 years at Baxter, loved old time movies and will always be remembered as a lifelong Mahjongg player, seasoned first mate on the Grandweigh, and a housekeeper extraordinaire. Loving and healing thoughts from my family to yours. Joan has been a good friend, cousin, and confidant throughout so many stages of my life. My mother Lorraine adored Joan and was close to her as a friend and niece (but they were so close in age, so much more like cousins!) Joan was always so approachable, and after my mom passed, she was open and shared so many wonderful memories and stories that have solidified for me a meaningful connection to Joan, Bob, and my parents' lives, relations, and senses of humor. Whenever Joan and Bob visited L.A., they told stories about their past, how they connected with Lorraine and Chuck, and we'd laugh and laugh. Funny how they were able to turn their struggles into stories that made all of us laugh, but appreciate their resilience at the same time. I will always admire Joan, and I'll miss her dearly. Dear Green family, please accept my condolences on the passing of Joan. I knew Joan through her job at American Hospital Supply Corporation about 40 years ago and sat next to her in the Legal Division. She was such a kind and lovely lady to work with. I had been friends with Joan for many years and will miss her. Just 3 weeks ago I called her and we talked a
little bit. I could tell that it was an effort for her but said I would call her again in a few weeks. That never happened. I was shocked to see this notice of her passing. For many, many years we played Mah Jong together and then Canasta. But her love was Mah Jong. When she was at Brookdale we would go out for lunch, but that was before she started getting sicker. She will be missed
