I was blessed and honored to be in Gary and Jackie’s wedding, nearly 60 years ago.. I thought then, as I still think now, that Jackie, with her intelligence, humor, laughter, spirit, love, friendships, charity, among other wonderful traits, was the only woman on earth who could be eternally connected to Gary.

She was a woman who most men, including me, fell in love with immediately. That smile, wit, presence, and personality made her irresistible.. We didn’t stand a chance. Truly, a woman of substance….in every way…. Big time.

Jackie was the kindest, wisest and most loving friend. Since we first met when we worked at Lambs Farm I admired her integrity and wisdom in finding ways to improve the lives of the participants at Lambs Farm and to fight for the best ways to give their lives meaning and value. She was always ready to laugh or joke with any of them and to give them her total respect. From from early on in our friendship I knew how fun and dependable she was for her friends, as well. We enjoyed many times together, from long lunches, woods walks and garden consults, for which I am very grateful. Jackie's ability to truly listen in a conversation - and to discuss a problem with honesty, insight and wisdom was absolute.

She often spoke of her love for her family, and it my priviledge and joy to share some holidays with them where she entertained with ease and love, and where all had fun together. Later on I saw her fierce determination to live life to the fullest, and to enjoy her life with grace, even as she fought her disease. She was a beloved friend and I will miss her greatly. As Gary and the rest of her family mourn her loss deeply, I believe that their many memories of the rich and joyous years they shared together will offer comfort as they go through this painful loss. My love to you all.
