Arlene's loss came as a tremendous shock to all of us who knew her.
I met Arlene at the Buffalo Grove Fitness Center.
I never saw her without a big smile and a wonderful laugh.
We talked about makeup a lot, and a while back I admired her lipstick. Not only did she scour every MAC lipstick counter, but she called MAC corporate headquarters and finally found it. Two for her, and two for me.
I was actually wearing it today when I got the terrible news.
That was Arlene.
May her memory be a blessing, and may her family go
from STRENGTH to STRENGTH.

We will miss Aunt Arlene so much - how will we ever keep up on the family news without the Arlene News Network? The long talks on the phone while she walked. Oh, she walked. She walked for miles, and solved the problems of the world during those walks. She talked to family and friends, greeted everyone she saw and kept on walking.

When my mother (Arlene's Sister-in-Law) was ill, Aunt Arlene was always there for us. She would visit my mother, bringing salads and gossip. When my mother passed, Arlene was the first person I called - she was at one of the boys' baseball games, but came over right away and sat with me through everything. She helped me do all of those adult things that I never thought I would have to do. And now I am watching her kids go through the same thing, except they don't have an Arlene to show them the path.

We still hear your voice, your laugh and your whisper when you relate a juicy piece of gossip. Hopefully, that will remain with us forever.

Your kids are strong, you raised them well. You should be proud of them today.

The world has lost a precious gem. I had the pleasure of working at Twin Groves with Arlene for 20 years. She started my day with a friendly face and never failed to make my day a good one. As I drove home I would see her walking and marveled at her energy. I can still see her waving and smiling as I went by. She will be missed by so many. May all of your memories help you through this difficult time.

It's inconceivable that we will no longer see that smiling face. Arlene was the kindest, most loving person I think I've ever known. I she was beloved, they all who knew her. The shock of all of this is surreal. My heart breaks, especially for Harold, my dearest friend, Sandy and Elaine. We will keep looking at the old pictures and remember the fabulous times that we all had together. Will love you always.

My canasta buddy. I am sending virtual hugs to the entire Kabb family. I have never known a more positive, loving and energetic person as Arlene. I was blessed to have gotten to know her. I will forever miss her smile. Every time they play Go Cubs Go I will look upward and smile at my friend.

As a soccer teammate and friend of Julie's, I was lucky enough to have known Mrs. Kabb for many years. Very sweet, kind and loving, Mrs. Kabb was an amazing person. I remember her on the sidelines cheering us on at many of our games. The love that this family shared was loud and proud. Very admirable witnessing the love they shared for each other. It poured out of their hearts. May God comfort you in this time of sorrow. Hugs!

I was so sad to hear about Arlene passing away. I remember when she was the lunch lady
and Xero lady at Prairie School. She was a hard worker who always had a smiling face. I remember how happy she was to retire and be with her grandchildren. She will be missed! May her memory be a blessing. Iris Shapiro

I'm so sorry to hear about Arlene's passing. I worked with her at Twin Groves in the 90s. She hugged me when I got hired, came to my wedding, and always had a funny and positive thing to say-such an inspiration to everyone who shared her space. I can't imagine how much you will miss her. She was just an angel.

When I became Prairie School's first principal in 1979, Arlene became my indispensable right hand assistant as our first PTO president and a jack of all trades employee. She was thoughtful, positive and energetic...a truly creative problem solver and difference maker. She was the loving mama bear of her family and a true treasure in our world. I feel honored to have known Arlene.

Deepest sympathy and condolences to the Kabb family. I also had the pleasure of working with Arlene for many years at Twin Groves. She always was the light of the day... so very happy, friendly, smiling, caring, concerned, and the most genuine spirit. Her energy was contagious. The world is a better place because of her... touching so many lives over the years by her words and actions. Gifts of memories live forever.

I was lucky enough to know Arlene growing up in BG, and even luckier to get to know her as an adult when we worked together at Stevenson High School. I loved to see her over the past few years to have a chat. She'd update me on the family and the grandkids...she was so darn proud of you all - I could tell by the glimmer in her eyes whenever we spoke about you all.

I am really shocked by this news. I will really miss seeing her around SHS.

My heart goes out to you all. May the memories bring you comfort and love in the coming days, months, and years.

May her memory be for a blessing.

Arlene was one of a kind! She worked with us in Security at Stevenson High School and I was blessed to have known her for the last 4 years. I felt like I knew her for 20. I will miss our talks about her husband, kids, grandkids and life. We would always tease her that she could run circles around all of us that were much younger than her and she sure could. Arlene was such a kind soul with great laugh, beautiful smile and a huge heart. The students loved and respected her and she touched many lives over the years.

Our sincere condolences to Arlene's family and friends. We will all miss her very much at SHS.

To the whole kabb family,
Our hearts are with you during this difficult time. Your mom was a staple in the neighborhood. My parents adored your mom. When dad would bring pizza for my sister and I for lunch he would always ask her if she wanted anything from the restaurant. Julie, I can still see your mom and dad at soccer games cheering you on. My heart is broken for you all. Your mom is in good company she is probably talking about the old times with my mom and dad is making her pizza crust. They are all together being our angels. May she rest in peace forever and never stop walking. Lisa Longobardi

I can't tell you how shocked I was when I read about Arlene's death in the Trib on the day of her funeral. She and I went to high school together and I have so many wonderful memories of those days with her. She was always such a joyful person. Always laughing. We lived around the corner from each other so I picked her up and we walked to school together. I also spent a lot of time at her home with her wonderful parents. One of my favorite memories is when she received a call from her idol, Ernie Banks. He called from the fish store where her dad worked and arranged it.
My heart breaks for all of her family. I know she will be missed. My condolences to all.
