OBITUARY

Herman S. Hefler (83) passed away on June 29, 2024. Herman is predeceased by his wife, Faye C. Hefler. Herman is survived by his daughters, Marcie Hefler and Sharon Hefler. Herman is predeceased by his sister, the late Alice (Tom) Daly and survived by his brother David (Jean) Hefler. Herman was a loving uncle, a dear friend to many and partner in crime to Ronnie Caplan. For what Herman lacked in height, he made up in big personality. Herman will be remembered for his “Hermanisms” and the wisdom he bestowed on his daughters, their friends and his employees, who became family members. Herman was born in Manhattan, NY and grew up in The Bronx. He was a proud graduate of the Bronx High School of Science before attending Farleigh Dickinson University. He was a long-time resident of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, where he served on the Zoning Board of Appeals. Herman and Faye loved to travel, and they could often be found on a cruise exploring the Panama Canal. When Herman wasn’t cruising, he was cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers, following Faye around in local art fairs and of late, serving as President of the Residents’ Council at his assisted living facility. Services will be held at Congregation Beth Judea, 5304, RFD, Long Grove, IL 60047, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. There will be a graveside service at Willow Lawn Cemetery (24090 N US Hwy 45, Vernon Hills, IL 60061) immediately following. Shiva will be observed Tuesday, July 2, 2024 commencing at 4:00 p.m. Please call Chicago Jewish Funerals – Buffalo Grove Chapel, 847.229.8822, www.cjfinfo.com for further address and information. Herman was a member of the Medinah Shrine Club and the Masonic Lodge. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children at www.shrinershospitalforchildren.org in his memory. Arrangements by Chicago Jewish Funerals - Buffalo Grove Chapel, 847.229.8822, www.cjfinfo.com

Extending deepest sympathy to the Hefler family.
Herman was an amazing person who had an impact on everyone he met. I learned so much from him through the few short years I had the honor to know him.
He listened ... Gave great advice ... He always supported me even though, as a Chicagoan, I could not support this New Yorker being a Packers fan!
His loss will be deeply felt by all of us that called him Friend.
Rest in Peace Herman ...You will be missed.
