OBITUARY

Benjamin Michael Sherman was born on January 14, 1985, on one of the coldest weekends in Chicago history. Ben passed away on July 10, 2025. He was the beloved son of Beverly and Alan Sherman, the cherished brother of Anna (Justin) Geller and uncle to Naomi and Abigail Geller.

Ben had lived at Misericordia Home since 1998, where he and the other residents with special needs received loving and dedicated care from the incredible staff. Ben’s family is forever grateful to Misericordia.

Ben loved hot dogs, ice cream and VHS tapes. He enjoyed being sung to, and would lean in close to listen. He always charmed his teachers and caregivers - he was a character, adored by friends, family, and the Misericordia community.

Services will be on Monday, 11AM at Temple Beth-El, 3610 Dundee Road, Northbrook. Interment Jewish Oakridge Cemetery. Dear Bev, Alan, and family,

We are so sad to learn of Ben's unexpected death. Please know that we grieve with you, as do so many people whose lives were touched by knowing Ben or knowing about him. You were a constant, loving presence in his life, and we hope that love will sustain you through this sad time. Keep the sweet memories--the joys, the big smiles, the hugs, the special meals, and also the knowledge that he was content and safe at Misericordia. You faced so many difficult choices and challenges over the years, and you faced them with grace and care.
