OBITUARY

Gregory A. Pfeiffer, age 70.

Beloved husband of Debra for 45 years

Gregory was fortunate to have found his birth family and is survived by siblings William (Sylvia) Nelson, Pamela (Ronald Look) Nelson, Greg “other brother Greg” (Dixie) Nelson, his nephew Erik (Rasitha Goonasekera) Nelson-Look, and great-niece Maya Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his mother the late Lucy Nelson, his brother the late Donald Nelson and his adoptive parents the late Alfred and the late Vera Pfeiffer.

There are so many words describing Greg: intelligent, loving, patient, hard-working, strong, unique, funny and more. He worked hard at everything he did and didn't give up. He went back to school and earned his Bachelor of Applied Science degree at the age of fifty-nine with straight As. He passed ASE certification tests working his way up to Master Auto Technician and Advanced Level Specialist. He realized his dream of teaching at three community colleges. He loved teaching and loved his students. Greg was always there to help family and friends and was always available for advice for his students. No matter what difficulties Greg faced in his life he never complained. He bravely faced whatever came his way. Greg touched so many lives and will long be remembered.

Memorial service Sunday, November 17 at 12 noon at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd. (at Niles Center Road), Skokie. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Chicago Jewish Funerals - Skokie Chapel, 847.229.8822, www.cjfinfo.com.

To Uncle Greg who always had a warm smile, funny joke or funny hand jester (elephant). Uncle Greg was always willing to help and loved to share his knowledge. How he shared his knowledge was unique because no matter what we were talking about he made you feel comfortable learning.

There are so many memories. One, the bee that was in my closet. My dad and Greg tried to capture the bee, both got scared and ran out of the small space. They did catch it. Then I think of Uncle Greg sitting on the double swing with our daughters in our backyard. Greg was such a kid at heart. Dinners, we went to so many places and ate so many different foods. 4th of July double features and dinner. Omgosh, first time driving on the expressway in construction with Uncle Greg. I was getting too close to the cones and he had to bring his arm in the window. lol So many great memories, thank you Uncle Greg!! I hope that you and dad are sitting somewhere warm having a cold drink, cigarette and sharing funny stories. Uncle Greg you are one in a million. We love and miss you.
