Funeral Details

I am so sorry to hear this terrible news. I've known Bobby since 3rd grade at west ridge school. He was a great guy. May his memory be a blessing💔

Bob was my neighbor and we shared a deep love of animals especially dogs. What a kind and gentle person he was. Seeing he an Zelda in the park would light up my day. Everyone knew them. He will be truly missed.

I first met Bob when he approached and asked if my 'husband would mind if I played pool with him', which was a bit of a quirky question in the 2010s, but Bob is indeed a bit quirky sometimes. I of course already knew him quite well by sight, as who could miss the man sitting at the bar with three pugs (also sitting at the bar, yes in bar stools). And had I somehow missed that as background noise in Rogers Park, there was also his incredibly unique sense of style. Especially the shoes.

Shortly before the pandemic, Bob became our downstairs neighbor. This was when I really met Bob, because you couldn't be around Bob without knowing almost everything about Bob. We shared another neighbor with a degenerative disease who always refused help when offered. This did not stop Bob however who moved earth when necessary to ensure her health and safety, as well as comfort and happiness. He was a lesson in compassion and I hope to keep his memory alive by always knowing how to help others.

Bob was a giver. He was also a taker, but he was always a giver first. We traded cat sitting and dog walks back and forth for a number of years. No one needs to be told that Bob loved his animals and it breaks my heart that they've lost each other in such a way. I'm glad they will continue to be loved by friends and family.

As stated Bob was a giver, and had just hosted his annual fundraiser for epilepsy research. An event always as quirky as Bob, but always a good time as well.

Bob you will be missed, no one at all will ever fill your many, many brightly colored shoes.

Bob was my neighbor in Rogers Park, and I would run into him many times while he was out walking Zelda and his many other animal friends. I spoke to him in the park just last week and noted how happy he seemed to be. People (and animals) seemed to gravitate to him.

I’m so sorry to hear of this accident. But I’m quite sure Bob touched many lives - both human and animal.

Bob was my neighbor in Rogers Park. We met only a few times (always at the beach, with our dogs) but his kindness left a huge impression on both myself and my partner. We bonded over our love of pugs and Robert was always so sweet and loving with our pug, Moti. We've taken lots of advice and tips that we got from our conversations with him. His warmth and friendliness was infectious and he will be deeply missed. Sending love to all his friends and family.

Bobbys love of running began the day he reported for Cross Country practice at HPHS. He was an enthusiastic member of the team & loved pushing his limits. He continued to run & train for marathons , for the remainder of his life. We were so impressed with the number of marathons Bobby has run, and we are so sorry he won’t be running this years Chicago Marathon.

We both remember Bobby always winning the annual “paper bag” contest—— able to pick up a scrap of paper bag in his teeth while balancing on one foot. Competitors would say it was unfair because he was closer to the ground. But we knew it was because he was so flexible.

We were able to connect with Bobby through the years , most recently last fall at our house. The stories we shared of cross country & track running we shared brought back many fond memories.

As teachers & coaches , we never realized that we would be making life long friends along the way . With our deepest sympathy —- Bobby will be missed.
