Today we say a good by and recite prayers for the passing of Joan Groner Solomon whose low key smile was so warm and welcoming to her family. After Julie and Daniel's wedding she sent me a very gracious and personal note. Very few correspond via snail mail. Her elegant mannerisms displayed the affection she held for her family, and the pride she had for her grandchildren and children.

I just learned of Joan's passing through JUF News. I worked with Joan at GBC for many years and we spent a decent bit of time learning about each. The time that I knew her coincided with Jerry moving to a nursing home. I was so moved by her dedication to him. It remains a dear memory. She loved her children and grandchildren and would always talk to me about their accomplishments. Everything the rabbi said about Joan rang true: a real lady, so so smart and so nice. I was always amazed that she came from Greenville, MS. An education for me that there were Jews there. I am deeply saddened by her passing but I could tell from the service that her memory lives strong in her children. May her memory be for a blessing.
