We came to the United States on Thursday evening of May 3rd, 1990. We stayed in the Hirsch house for a few days.
The next morning Bernice came and took four of us to the Social Security Office to apply for social security cards. After the Social Security office she took us to the Skokie middle school where we registered our younger son. He started school the very next Monday on the 4th day after coming to a new country!
Bernice helped my husband Emil to send his resume to more than 100 education and research establishments. He got a good offer relatively fast.
For many years Bernice helped us with advice and just being a warm and loving relative and friend.
Bernice is already missed. Our hearts are filled with sadness and grief.
We send our deepest condolences to all who loved her.
