OBITUARY
Harry “Hud” Augustine Englehart III, 76.
Beloved husband of Donna More. Loving father of Maizey Englehart. Loving son of the late Mercedes and the late Harry Augustine Englehart Jr. Dear brother of Nancy (the late David) Snyder, Joan (the late Jorge) Rodriguez and the late Carol Englehart Scott.
For Hud Englehart, Par 3s meant three was his lucky number. Hud had three parts of his life: his career and his family, and he was a three-peat Super Senior Club Champion in golf. Hud passed away on April 28th at the young age of 76.
A native of Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, Hud’s incredible career in public relations led him to the most exciting cities and the most interesting jobs. In his young life and professional career, golf was always his trusty sidekick. The two blended seamlessly together.
Hud was on the golf team at Bishop Carroll High School in Ebensburg, and he continued his golf career at the University of Michigan and wrote for the Michigan Daily. Just last year, Hud was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Letterwinners M Club.
His public relations career took flight in 1969 at Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh. His game continued to improve with leadership roles at Hill+Knowlton in Chicago, Lockheed Martin in Los Angeles, and Kemper Lesnik again in Chicago. Hud certainly had his A-game when he transitioned to Rasmussen Reports for 13 years in business development. The second round of his career took him into teaching as an adjunct professor at Northwestern University, where he taught his career favorites of crisis management, integrated marketing, and communications. But, Hud drained it in his career as president of the Glen View Club Scholarship Foundation. He was incredibly proud of the 62 young men in women in college last year because of grants from Glen View Club members.
While Hud’s passion and dedication for chasing birdies were legendary, his love and devotion for his wife and daughter were unmatched. There was no bigger fan of Donna More than Hud. Throughout their partnership, he and Donna played through. They leaned on each other, learned from each other, and loved each other. And their ace, Maizey, was the light that shined in Hud’s eyes.
Donna and Maizey were at his side when he passed.
Recapping the game, Hud Englehart’s life was one of the best scorecards ever.
Service Monday, 10AM at Old St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 700 W. Adams St., Chicago. A private family interment was held at Westlawn Cemetery. Hud never had enough time in the day to spend with his friends far and near, and his charitable endeavors were never-ending. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Glen View Club Scholarship Foundation, 100 Golf Road, Golf, IL 60029, www.gvcscholarship.com. To attend the funeral live stream, please visit our website.
