OBITUARY

Dick Stoken, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, businessman and author, passed away September 17, 2026, at age 91.

Born October 24, 1934, Dick earned his MBA from the University of Chicago and enjoyed a distinguished career in the financial and commodities markets. He was a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Chicago Board of Trade, a founding partner of Lind-Waldock, and the author of several books on markets, economic cycles, investing and politics.

Those who knew Dick will remember most the way he made people feel. He had a quirky sense of humor, loved to laugh, and had a big heart. A gifted listener who genuinely cared about people, Dick touched many lives. Family and friends meant everything to him, and he had a special way of making those he loved feel deeply cared for. His love for his family, his country, and his faith remained constants throughout his life.

Dick is survived by his wife, Sandra; children Antigone Davis, Andre Stoken, and Deidre Stoken McClurg (Michael); daughter-in-law Anne Stoken; seven grandchildren; and sister Ellen Nisbett. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Kingsley Stoken.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 24, at 3:30PM at North Shore Congregation Israel in Glencoe, followed by a gathering in celebration of Dick’s life, with details to be announced. To Andre and the extended family of Dick Stoken, I am still in a state of shock from finding out about his passing. My family was very fortunate to have known such a kind, intelligent, and wonderful man. From his longtime friendship with my mom, to attending my sister’s wedding. Your father and I also shared a great interest in history. In the many years he and my mom, he always treated us like an honorary members of his family, asking how we are doing and what subject in history was I looking into. I am so sorry for your loss. I know he is up there right now, happily embracing your brother, grandparents, and enjoying the everyday activities he enjoyed down here on earth.
