Such a good friend and my pleasure to know and love. Last time I saw or heard from you was on the train sharing our thoughts on friends, family and the cubs. We had some good times in our younger years and Iâ??ll always have great memories of driving around in my car or whiling away the hours in Cafe Ambiance debating and laughing. You were a good guy and Iâ??ll miss you

I knew Ben in graduate school in Carbondale and was lucky enough to spend many days in the midst of his humor and wit. I am devastated to hear that he has passed. He was intelligent, kind, brave, and hilarious. The world will be a worse place without him.

I met Ben in Evanston during the Golden Age of coffee shops like Ambiance. I went away to college after I graduated high school; Ben and Emily took the train to visit me in Michigan. From those moments on, Ben and I were close along with a handful of other people. He helped me move out of my parents house. In fact, he helped me and my roommates move a lot! I have many, many, many fond memories of him, he is part of the fabric of me growing up into adulthood and while it may have been a few years since we last spoke, I will remember him as a kind, giving, argumentative person with a bizarre sense of humor only a few understood. I will miss him.
