OBITUARY

Patsy Fridstein (nee Woolf) passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024, at the age of 96. Patsy was the beloved wife to the late Donald R. Fridstein, cherished, supportive and fun-loving mother to Stan (Gail) Fridstein and Audie Fridstein, adored Grammy to Allie (Adam) Nerderman and Eric (fiancé Carlin Leyble), dear sister to Irving W. Woolf Jr. and loving sister-in-law to Ethel Woolf, Bob and Margery Fridstein (who all predeceased her), and a fond aunt, cousin and friend to many. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Born on September 2, 1927, and raised in Hyde Park, Chicago to Irving and Isabel (nee Freehling) Woolf, Patsy lived an extraordinary life! She went to the University of Missouri for two years, returning to Chicago to become a lab tech/phlebotomist. Working until her early 80s, she loved every minute of interacting with her colleagues and patients!

She and Don were married in 1952, moved to Highland Park, IL in 1954 to raise their family, and had a wonderful marriage until 2005, when Don passed away. Patsy’s life was filled with friends, time spent with family and many wonderful, often funny, moments.

Known for her love of entertaining (including annual New Year’s Eve parties spanning 67 years), cooking and baking, Patsy brought warmth and joy to every gathering. She was forever young-at-heart and adapted to change with grace. Her sense of humor, style, warmth, and supportive nature made her accepting of everyone she met, creating a lasting impact on those around her.

A celebration of Patsy's life will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 1PM at Makom Solel Lakeside Temple, at 1301 Clavey Road, in Highland Park. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, 100 Raoul Wallenberg Place, SW, Washington, DC 20024-2126, www.ushmm.org, Wounded Warrior Project, 230 W Monroe St Suite 200, Chicago, IL 60606, www.woundedwarriorproject.org or Makom Solel Lakeside, 1301 Clavey Rd, Highland Park, IL 60035, www.mymakom.org in Patsy Fridstein's memory.
