Jim was my mentor and my friend. He gave me my first job in the crazy business of advertising, willing to take a shot on a lawyer who wanted to try his hand at another form of truth enhancement. He was smart, funny, kind and always had a fresh take on whatever the day brought. He was one of the most decent people I’ve ever met.

Jim had a unique vibe with an astonishingly wide and welcoming frequency. He knew how to listen, to inspire, to cajole, to console and to speak truth to power. I will miss him.

How sad to learn of Jim's passing!!!!! One's departure from our presence is always challenging for family and friends who remain. My condolences to Jim's family and circle of friends. I will surely miss his gentle presence at Keep The Beat Wellness in Northbrook. His determination to work out was admirable -- especially as he persevered on the toughest days for him. The stories will linger in his sharing of his adventurous driving trips, brief chats about things philosophical, his periodic letters on various topics, colorful commentary on movies, of his experiences at McDonalds, his unique humor, stories about his trips to his beloved northern Michigan, tales of his career in advertising, his vast array of Sox-wear (is there any other team???), and the wide array of shirts bearing "make you think" statements communicating a range of often-humorous thoughts. In a way, to read the sayings on his shirts was to know Jim as a person. Jim was a special member of the Keep The Beat family, and his absence leaves his immediate and the KTB families mourning. I am richer in spirit and being for having known Jim. He is now free and whole, and I know he will be at KTB in spirit, and with all of us in days to come. Rest in peace, Jim.
