OBITUARY

Kenneth H. Kaiz 1939 - 2025

Kenneth H. Kaiz, 85, of Morton Grove, IL, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025.

Beloved husband of Sandra nee Silberman; loving father of Bari Lynn Simon, Dayle (Mike) Muller, Adam (Oscar) Kaiz-Vera, Dani Kaiz, and Ian Erdos; proud grandfather of Monica, Matthew, Jaida, Meagan, Alysha, Lilith, Santiago, Erica, Eric, Emiliano, Sadelle, Savannah, Hannah (Brandon), and Verlin, and a great grandfather; dear brother of Shelly (Gloria) Kaiz and Elaine (Lester) Rothenbaum.

Ken was born in Chicago, IL in 1939 to Leo Kaiz and Celia Roseman Kaiz. He proudly attended Shimer College in Mount Carroll, IL. He was married to Ruth for 17 years before his marriage to Sandy Erdos Kaiz. They were married almost 45 years and still madly in love.
Ken worked in merchandise management at Walgreens before joining the family business running Admiral Lamp in Chicago. Able to fix most anything, Ken was passionate about his work and ensuring he could help a customer with any need. Years later he ended his career as a manager at Radio Shack. An avid music fan, Ken was known to enjoy Israeli dancing, attending the Chicago Lyric Opera. He was always humming or singing something.

Ken was very proud of his Jewish heritage and active in his community, singing in the choirs at Northwest Suburban Jewish Congregation, then Ezra Habonim Niles Township Jewish Congregation, where he was well known for enthusiastically singing the endings of prayers, and enjoyed singing and playing many roles in the annual Purim Shpiel. He also helped prepare Sabbath meals for the Temple with his wife Sandy for over 15 years. Ken was a warmhearted and jovial member of the community. A Mr. fix-it, pancake master, Weber grill aficionado, music lover, and major Buick fan, Ken is immensely loved and will be fondly remembered and missed by all.

I have many memories of working with Ken during our years at Radio Shack. Ken was always able to put a smile on my face and the faces of our customers. I was honored to have him as my ASM. He will be sorely missed. Rest well Ken!!

SIGH... Ken was such a love! His photo with that lovely smile, encapsulates who he was. He was loving and friendly and embracing. Such a big-hearted human being. I remember when my cousin Sandy married Ken (after her husband, Harry z"l had passed away)... He has been a tremendous energy in Sandy's life. Ian and his children have been very lucky to have Ken as a grandfather! Ken will be missed. יהי זכרו ברוך

Kenny and Sandy were with me during the Hugh Holidays for at least twenty five years, probably longer. Ken was my regular tenor (when I didn't have a cantorial part, I sang with him). Sandy was in the soprano section.

Aside from that, we were always good friends. He was everything the Rabbi said - kind, loving, friendly, always eilling to help. After I moved to Florida 20 years ago, I made sure to call them every "yontiff".

I will miss him for as long as I live and will stay in touch with Sandy and Ian.
