Dear Sveta, Marina, and Alla. I love you all very much and sending you all the love during this tough time. I will always remember Papa Gitman and his welcoming presence, always like I was part of the family. When I would come over to hang out with Sveta, he would eagerly treat me to my favorite Russian delights and we'd discuss Chicago sports and watch soccer on TV. He also never judged me for being a White Sox fan on the north side ;). I will miss him very much and will always keep him close in my heart. I know that he will be looking down on you all with love and pride forever.

With untimely passing of our dear Lyonechka our extended family lost the most loving, reliable human. Someone, who was always ready to extend his supportive hand, hear someone out and give the best advice.

He was beloved by all, people wanted to be near him, because he was the life of a party!
We will always remember the joy and unabashed happiness he exuded in Rome, when he was surrounded by family and friends from all over the world to share the joy of Marina and Dino'€™s nuptials.

He wasn'€™t talkative but he could partake in conversations on multiple topics from politics to sports, from business to architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright.

He loved all of his girls - Alla, Marina, Sveta... But the moment he became a granddad, Lyonya'€™s life filled with new miraculous emotions. When Lyonya talked about his sweet granddaughter, his voice would change its overtones, he was melting just thinking about her and his face would light from within.

He left us way too early, he could have done and felt so much more. We will forever feel the void left by his untimely passing.

Rest In Peace, dear Lyonya.

Dear Marina and family, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. The Talmud states that the child is the regel (foot) of the father. What this means has been explained by the commentators on the Talmud. A foot propels a person forward. One who has left this world is stationary--he cannot move forward any longer. The child who is still in this world can continue to move forward, and grow as a person, hence the analogy to the foot. The child carries on the traditions learned from the parents. But the person's ability to grow was implanted in them by the parents. Seeing the kind of person you are Marina it does not take much to understand that what you are is a reflection of the profound lessons you learned from your loving parents. May his memory always be for a blessing.
