Nathanial, known to the greater Grinnell student-body as Tingley, was a massive figure in our collegiate community, and a cherished friend to those of us who were lucky enough to know him personally. He left an indelible impression on everyone who befreiended him. The unexpected news of his passing is a great sadness and a shocking blow. The world has lost a singular individual, and is lesser for it. My thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Lucy and baby Phoebe, and the family that raised such a wonderful and promising young man.

It’s my story to tell
Met a shy intelligent young man in Grinnell
Lucy was smiling when she introduced him.
Little did I know he was the one!
Gentle , thoughtful , Focused , caring
Proud to have him care for my daughter.
I am a blessed man for enjoying time with all the Tingley/Asche
Family

Nathaniel Tingley you were a beautiful human being inside and out. You had so many talents and positive traits. In addition to your intelligence you were wildly creative and skilled with your hands. Always willing to help solve problems and capable of making just about any household repairs.
What won me over however was your profound love for our daughter, Lucy and your devotion , care and love for Phoebe. I am eternally grateful that I was able to witness your time together before and after Phoebe’s birth.
Grateful for the union of our families.
Holly
