OBITUARY

Myra Schultz, 78, a longtime resident of Skokie, IL, was a Registered Nurse, a longtime manager in the operating room as well as a project manager in medical software in several prominent hospitals in Chicago and Phoenix AZ.

“She was,” according to her husband, Ron, “a very loving, highly intelligent woman both personally and professionally.”

Ms. Schultz was a prolific and noted author and lecturer in her field, including on operating room issues such as “So You Want to be a Manager,” and “Healthcare Packaging Issues in the Operation Room”.

She was loved by her co-workers who frequently sought her advice and counsel.

Myra is survived by her cherished children, Robert (Amy) Rubinberg, Andrew (Hanna) Rubinberg, and Matthew Rubinberg, and her stepchildren, David (Mary) Schultz, Robert Schultz, and Beth (William) Suerth as well as her nieces: Amy Kavka, Rebecca Milanski, and Jennifer Hanson.

She was the fond sister of the late Dorothy Kavka and sister-in-law of Dr. Steven Kavka.

She was the much-loved grandmother of Adam, Leah and Benjamin Rubinberg, Kevin and Eric Schultz and Brandon and Olivia Suerth.

I wish I could be with you all and extend my love and condolences in person. I loved Aunt Myra very much and was fortunate to spend time with her not only when she was my “other mother” growing up, but as an adult when I stayed with her and Ron in her Skokie apartment. I treasure the memory of the interesting conversations we had over coffee while she did her crossword puzzle and read the funnies on her iPad. May her memory be for a blessing.

The service was wonderful online, thank you for broadcasting it for those who could not make it. Myra was a wonderful human and had an amazing ability to make everyone feel loved, which included our whole family. Ben and Sasha always loved visiting Ron and Myra in Scottsdale whenever Jen and I would decide we were up for the drive from Albuquerque. My absolute favorite memory of Myra was when she picked up Ben right out of the car after our long, winding drive. He was little, and car sick, and immediately threw up on her, but you would never have known it. Most people would have been pretty disgusted and put him down quickly (probably including me), but to my recollection, she held him just as tightly, maybe even gave him a little extra love, and just asked for a towel while smiling and exclaiming how happy she was to see all of us. I think it was even several minutes before I knew what had happened. Everything seemed normal and good, and that is because she made it so. I will truly miss her. Lastly, Ron, we love you too and hope to be able to see you more than we have in the past difficult period while Myra was unwell. We have so many happy memories with you and Myra and we would like to build more with you while we remember her together.
