A friend of many years, Evan was a unique individual whose generous and caring personality brightened many lives. I will miss his tremendous love of life, insightful observations about the world around him, and extraordinary ability to always see the best in people. He enjoyed a large network of friends in whose lives his departure will leave a painful void. We will all remember with laughter how much Evan enjoyed a good meal, often ordering much more than the group could possibly consume, especially when it came to desserts. As health challenges began to assault him, Evan would not be deterred from celebrating life with his friends, often at great personal discomfort. But our friend also had a serious side powered by his bright and creative mind, which he devoted with energy and determination to the solution of vexing and typically complex reinsurance and accounting problems. In business he was driven by an admirable respect for practical, not just effective, solutions. Long is the list of those whose lives he enriched, not least among them his closest friends and family. I tip my glass to you my prematurely departed friend!!

This has been a very hard day, indeed. I’ve read all your posts and you did really accurately describe Evan. I met Evan in the dorm in 1968 and have valued his friendship ever since. I have a lot of Evan stories but I think the most important one is that he was instrumental in my going on a blind date with my wife of 50 years, Sue. Evan and I got a summer job through Jewish Vocational Services. There was a really crazy lady who wanted to fix me up and there was no way I was going to do this. Evan insisted that I go and he said he knew her and actually went out with her a couple times before I met her. He said we would be a perfect match. So I called her and the rest is history. I have also been thinking about Evan all day and this does hurt.

A long-time and trusted friend of mine. We would talk often, and over the years, we had great discussions over so many topics—such as football, basketball, baseball, foods, restaurants, wines, music, travel, culture, cars, and of course—reinsurance—just to name some. He loved New Orleans, its restaurants, and Café Du Monde. He organized a weekly friend group zoom call discussion during the COVID pandemic, which still continues—and Evan rarely missed any calls—and I don’t ever remember a time when he was at a loss for words. He loved the Cubs and relished their heartstopper World Series win in 2016. He knew Wrigley Field and Chicago as well as anyone, and he could recount every game he ever attended. He was also a devoted friend, and though he was feeling great back and leg pain, he came to Nashville last September for the weekend wedding festivities of my daughter’s wedding. He wanted to be there to join the celebration and for his friends--because that is the kind of person Evan was. We didn’t realize that this would be one of the last times we saw Evan. Now, every picture and video we have of him from that wedding will be a cherished memory. He was also a great teacher, who taught a class for insurance professionals for many years, and who gave many other presentations on insurance topics—and the point is that Evan was generous to help other people with all that he knew and his professional experiences—and he gave back to other people. We are really going to miss Evan in our weekly friend group chats, but we will never forget him. Rest in peace my good friend.

The best hiring I ever did was to hire Evan as an auditor of our cedents and reinsurers. I believe that was about 1982, ever since, Evan and I have been friends. We worked together as consultants to many companies. One day, Evan asked if he could go to a class on reinsurance at the U of Wisconsin business institute. I told him that he could teach that course. He went anyway. When he came back, he told me that he was going to teach that class. After a couple of years he asked me to join him . At that time, we were teaching reinsurance clerks and others new to reinsurance. After many years of doing this, our students ended up being executives of smaller companies and AVP's of large companies.
I do believe that Evan was a true genius. In his office or in a room in Madison , everything seemed to be hit by a cyclone, papers and piles of papers all over. But, if you asked him for something, he would immediately know where it was in the pile. I believe that we were good partners. He might go off on a tangent, but I could always get him back on track.

We worked together for years.

I cant improve on Patrick Cantelo's remarks .

Rest in peace Evan a true friend.

My sister, Sue, was the love of his life,; so Evan was a part of our family for many years. He was a guy who enjoyed life and made the best of his circumstances….whatever they were….good and bad. I’ll never forget how he checked on me so many times to see how I was doing over this past year when I was so sick. He was a great guy with a big, caring heart and I will miss him.

My friendship with Evan began between 45 and 50 years ago when Evan was my graduate student pursuing his MBA degree at Roosevelt University with a speciialty in
Insurance and Reinsurance Accounting. After his graduation, we continued being in contact, having lunch, attending some professional meetings, and speaking at conferences both locally and
nationally. He once chaired a conference in San Francisco and invited me to be a speaker on a tax related insurance topic. I brought one of my sons with me so he could enjoy
visiting San Francisco during the daytime while Evan and I were at the conference and he would join us in the evenings. He enjoyed meeting Evan. I will miss our regular calls, communications and in person meetings. Evan was truly a great person.
May Evan's father and siblings be comforted on their and all of our loss.
