Funeral Details

Herbert Shayman passed away surrounded with care and comfort on March 23, 2025, at age 93. He was born in Chicago to the late William & Ida Shayman on September 23, 1931. Herb was preceded in death by his three older brothers: Milton (Mary), Irving and David (Mary), as well as his son William 'Billy' Shayman. He is survived by his dedicated companion, Connie Kerulis, his eldest son, daughter Julie (Chris) Tag, and daughter-in-law Justine, along with 6 beautiful grandchildren. Herb started his professional life as a copywriter in advertising. He left the ad world to spend several years as an agent with New York Life Insurance, where he specialized in insuring doctors. During mid-life, insurance sales became his part-time occupation and he focused on pursuing his passion as an actor in the Chicago area. In retirement, Herb combined his love of performing and Chicago history as a tour guide with his business, ChicaGoing My Way. A private interment for the family will be held on Monday, March 31st. Shiva will be held March 31st from 4PM-7PM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Boulevard, Skokie, IL 60077.
