To Al's sons: I did not know your father well but I wanted to reach out to relay a few things: our connection was through my former client of many years, Steve Reich. As you are aware, your dad and Steve were very good friends and remained so for many years after steve retired. I had lost touch with Steve, had heard he was sick, and mentioned this to your dad when I saw him at a FL snowbirds event. Al encouraged me to call Steve which I did, and we had a long conversation - it brought closure to both of us which made us feel better. This would never have happened without your dad, and I was so grateful for it.
Also, I talked to your dad a few years ago by phone - we caught up on each other's lives; he told me all about the New Light Cemetery which I knew nothing about, and we shared our joint interest in the Federation and its activities. I am also 98, know about how hard it is to get old - you three can take solace in the fact that your dad had a life well lived.

My husband Warren, who passed away a few months ago, and I were friends with Al. Warren and Al were tennis buddies and we spent time with him at the Addison in Boca Raton. Al was a good and loyal friend.
I happened to visit with him about a month ago and he proudly showed pictures of his family. In the past he spoke often about his grandchildren. He sent my husband articles Seth wrote since one of my sons was a journalist.
He was 98 years old and I believe he led a good life. I will miss him.

My late husband Barry and I knew Al very well after meeting at the Boca Resort and Club. We played a lot of tennis together and went our socially as well. We valued his friendship and I have kept in touch with him over the years and visited him recently at his condo a few times. I have been a realtor for over 40 years and he recommended his wonderful nurse and companion Barbara Canton to me in assisting her to sell her home and move to Boca to be closer to him as well. He was a very unusual caring man and I valued his friendship over the years. RIP AL - you will be missed by so many friends and family!!!
