Funeral Details

Although we are not part of the Eagleâ??s circle of friends in Chicago, both Warren and Joan has an impact on the life of Any and Joelâ??s friends on Cranmore Ct (also known as â??dreidel laneâ? in Marietta, GA. Through our extended family of friends on our street, we became acquainted with and cared about each otherâ??s parents as well. We are thinking of Amy, her dad, and all the extended family and hope your memories will comfort you in the days and weeks to come.

When I transitioned from a classroom teacher to the union president, they did not provide me with a manual on how to do to the job. Instead, I was given Joan's phone number and the simple advice from our secretary to, "Call Joan if you are in need." Well, those words of wisdom came in handy. Over the next five years as president, I would call Joan many times when in need. Regardless of the ask, she was always there to pick up the phone and provide guidance. Joan was relentless in her pursuit of the truth. She quickly became not only a trusted advisor but my mentor and my friend.

One of the best parts of my job was just being able to go out for lunch and be in her presence. She had impeccable taste and would always steer me in the right direction when it came to ordering my food choice. After a while, I would say to the server, "Whatever the lady is having, make it a double."

I am so grateful to have known Joan Eagle. She made me a better person. More importantly, she made the District 214 Education Association a better place to work for teachers and students. We love you and will miss you.
