Agnes’s life story touched me deeply, since the very moment I met her in Budapest in 2011. Her energy, her confidence, her big heart was captivating. I consider myself blessed to have known her and I am grateful for the insight her life gave me as regards what is truly important in life. I keep Agnes forever in my heart.

My father, Morris Pietrkowski and my mother Frieda were good friends of the Gzesh's. They came to my wedding in November 1986 at Skokie Valley shul on East Prairie Rd. and Dempster in Skokie. Agnes was a very sweet lady. She invited me to her condo on Golf Rd. In Skokie a few times. She fed me her home baked delicious cookies and hot tea. She offered me some of her adult sons' clothing for my husband. We enjoyed each other's company very much. Agnes and Morris sometimes attended Sheerit Hapleitah monthly events for Chicago area Holocaust Survivors. I was in charge of arranging these meetings for a few years.
