Funeral Details

Rita Loew passed away on November 12, 2024 at the age of 93. Rita enjoyed a full life built around her family.

Rita was born in 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, the child of Joseph and Bella Fox. She grew up in Brooklyn. She attended college at Adelphi University and matriculated into the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. She was an occupational therapist.

In 1955, Rita married Dr. Andrew Loew and together they moved to the Chicago area in 1956. Rita and Andrew lived together in Flossmoor, Illinois from 1964 until 2012, after Andrew’s death. Andrew was a long-time and well-known South Suburban pediatrician.

Rita loved to cook and spend time with her family. She loved music and was an avid reader. She was active in the Sisterhood at Temple Anshe Sholom in Olympia Fields, Illinois where she and Andrew were early and active members. Rita was known for her wit and sense of humor.

Rita is survived by her children Jonathan (Margarite), Andrea, Josh (Doris) and Jennifer (Stuart) Litwin and her grandchildren Zachary (Chelsea), Vanessa, Jacob, Justin, Nathan, Edward Litwin and Bailey Litwin.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Beverly Cemetery, 12000 Kedzie Avenue, Blue Island, Illinois 60406.
