My old friend...Although he faced many personal challenges, the qualities that were at his core made him an exceptional human. Alans fundamental qualities included his sensitive nature, kindness, and generosity. Alan's playful, childlike nature, and the ever present twinkle in his eyes spoke from his soul. "Like a bird on the wire, like a drunk in a midnight choir, i have tried in my way to be free." (K. Kristofferson, epitaph) Peace be upon you.

Alan,
You were a good friend many years ago.
You had the world in the palm of your hand and did good for a lot of people.
So sorry to hear of your passing. You will be missed.

Alan loved to immerse himself in a world of music; his tastes ranging from rock to jazz, blues, reggae, a sprinkle of pop, and a dabble of country. One of his favorite composers Leonard Cohen (wrote the lyrics to Hallelujah), became a favorite of ours. This was a passage that Cohen wrote to his muse, and I now send these same sentiments to Alan.
"...I'm just a little behind you, close enough to take your hand. This old body has given up, just as yours has too, and the eviction notice is on its way any day now. I've never forgotten your love and your beauty. But you know that, I don't have to say any more. Safe travels old friend, see you down the road..."
You were my first love, and you are my last. Always, Christina
