I have known Sherwin for quite a few years now, and I thought of him as more than just a neighbor. Sherwin reminded me of my dad in many ways and I told him so. He was kind and had a great sense of humor, and also had great advice on some of life's problems. He will be greatly missed by Mike and I. May you rest in peace Sherwin.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Sherwin. He was always a nice person to talk to. We know that many people in the Siuth Bend area will miss him. I always thought that his humor was very similar to mine, which could be a plus or minus. Really our thoughts are with his family and we will miss him.

Karen, my deepest condolences for passing of you dad. I am sorry never to have known him. But knowing you and reading about his love for sales and most of all his family, leaves me with the understanding of how this amazing man, husband & father impacted you to become the wonderful, kind & caring woman you are. I know many of our friends are reaching out as I am, & if you need to talk I’m here.

Sherwin and I have been friends since our days at RHS. He had a great sense of humor and was generous with his time and caring for all those around him. Family and friends. He and I who both, to this day, loved driving - as teens would drag race.
Thru the years he always called to see how I was. A group of us formed to meet for a nosh as often as possible. My love to his family- he was so proud of you. I will miss him.

Hello Everyone who loved my Great Big Cousin Sherwin --

One of earliest life memories is this.....when I was about 3 years old, I remember Sherwin bringing me a pumpkin that was larger than I was! We were living in Skokie, Sherwin and his mother, my Aunt Belle, and his father, my Uncle Ruby were all working for my Dad at Plastic King. I remember going to their apartment, where our Zaydie also lived (and shared a room with Sher), and with the dog,"Shep", and having wonderful dinners and fun times over there in Chicago. Later, we moved to California, but Sherwin kept in touch.

Throughout my life, Sherwin has always been there for me. Since my own brother, Dennis, passed away, Sherwin stepped right in to be more like a Big Brother to me than a Cousin. When I married Jim Day at the age of 50, which was a name he had never heard me say,, he flew out to Maryland to make sure I was okay. I was, but I so appreciated that protective gesture. We had so many long, late night talks and storytelling sessions, and after many of them, he would laugh, or cry,.and say, "Thanks for listening. Send me a bill for the therapy, will ya?" It was wonderful for each of us to have someone who understood us so well, having grown up with what he called, "the same schtick". Our lives were not easy growing up, and we both wanted to turn that adversity into a good, loving and caring family feeling for our own children. This is not easy to do, but this was the goal, always.

Sherwin would come up with one cockamamie scheme after another to try to make his million bucks. Some of these were absolutely hysterical ideas. He would have loved to leave every one of his children a nice trust fund. While this was not in the cards, the pride he felt that they all went to college and became successful meant the world to him.

Sherwin will be sorely missed in our lives. Even though I changed my first name, along with my last name, he would always still call me Anita. And, it was always just fine with me, as he always took me back to my roots, our roots, and our family of origin that we shared. We understood each other with a word, just a single word was enough. Sherwin lived life with a passion, and truly did not want to give up on it. He wanted every minute he could have. Diabetes takes its toll, that's what it does. Sherwin fought as hard and as long as humanly possible. And, he loved with a passion, as well. There are so many people he loved so very much and who loved him.. We will really miss you, Big Guy.
