OBITUARY
Arnold Evan Reingold, born June 17, 1929 in Gary, Indiana, passed away on July 1, 2021, due to complications from heart disease. He is survived by his wife, Hilda (Stern), his children Sara Leopold (Jay) of Scottsdale, Arizona, Gordon Reingold of Highland Park, Illinois, and Al Reingold (Kimberly) of Roswell, Georgia; grandchildren Ari Leopold (Tracy Anderson), Caren Sonken (Brian), Benjamin Reingold and David, Matthew and Josh Reingold; great-grandchildren Madeline Sonken and Ruby Leopold. A highly gifted accountant, Arnold earned the “Gold Medal” award on the CPA exam in 1955, and started an accounting practice in 1957. His son, Gordon, joined the practice in 1983 and they had the great fortune to forge a wonderful working relationship together for nearly four decades. Arnold graduated from Indiana University in 1950 with both his Bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) and MBA, which necessitated two trips across the stage. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1951 and served as an officer during the Korean War. That is when he met Hilda and they married in 1952. Following his military service, he completed his law degree in 1957. In the 60’s, while working as a CPA, Arnold was also the Deputy Comptroller for the City of Gary. The family moved to Highland Park, IL in 1970. They joined North Suburban Synagogue Beth El, where Arnold was Treasurer for several years. He was well-traveled and a genuine friend to many people of all ages – from playing on the floor with his grandchildren to discussing the intricacies of Civil War battles with other amateur historians. He was greatly loved and respected by those who knew him, and he will be missed. Service Sunday, 2:00 PM at North Suburban Synagogue Beth El, 1175 Sheridan Road, Highland Park, IL.
