I am so sorry to hear about Jeff's passing. We worked together at the Chicago Transit Authority and I knew him to be a good father, a good husband and a terrific attorney. May God bless him and keep him.

My heartfelt condolences to Jeff's family on his passing. He was an upstanding individual who was highly principled and cared about others. We first met at Beth Hillel Bnai Emunah in Wilmette about 15 years ago. He joined our Men's Club and began attending numerous Sunday AM breakfasts and other events during the calendar year. To my personal regret, I lost track of Jeff in recent years and that's on me. One of life's important lessons -- Make an effort to stay in touch with others who we haven't seen.

May Jeffrey Hornstein's good name be for an eternal blessing!

My deepest condolences to the Hornstein Family. Although I only met Jeff within the past couple of years through professional endeavors, I came to regard him as a friend. Jeff was a very kind person who still had so many good years ahead of him. He will be greatly missed. May his memory be a blessing to his family and friends.

I came to know Jeff through professional associations in 2017 and saw him regularly. Every time I saw him, he had a smile on his face and a gentle kind demeanor. Even when he discussed a work issue, I always got the impression he was able to see the bigger picture of life. I pray he will be smiling in heaven. I also pray for his family and friends to feel God's presence, peace and love during the grieving process and as they remember Jeff.

Dear Jane & family,
Genya & I were shunned when Roni called with the sad news. Jeff & I were HS classmates at Bowie HS: we became life-long friends when I began to date his sister, Roni. Later, we were roommates at Hebrew Univ of Jerusalem. Our “crew” were all at our wedding in Nazareth Elite; we saw him and Jane just this past summer as they came East. How fondly our group of friends enjoyed the homemade granola that his mom made. Although we lived far apart, we stayed close. Twice I flew to AZ to officiated at the funerals of both his parents. He was just 1 month younger, but we were brothers of a different mother.
May his memory be for a.blessing.
With love,
Mark & Genya

Spent many many mornings at our (sometimes virtual) Wednesday breakfast meetings. His gravelly toned, honest, caring and thoughtful voice will be missed in this world, but most importantly - will be remembered.

I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. Jeff was a colleague and friend and very helpful to me when I started my solo practice in 2018. We last had breakfast right before everything shut down for Covid. I will treasure our conversations and remember him fondly. I send my deepest condolences to his family. May his memory be a blessing.

Jeff was a volunteer for i.c.stars (a workforce development nonprofit) - we were connected to him through the legal platform We The Action (which connects lawyers with nonprofits). Jeff helped a few of our graduates with their legal cases - his help ensured their success and new employments were not interrupted by legal issues. He attended our Martin Luther King Day event in January, though I only met him virtually.

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. Please know how much his volunteerism is appreciated by our organization and by the people he helped directly.

Jeff was an integral part of the Small Business Advocacy Council Lawyers Committee. He was a regular on our zoom calls, and when we met in person before the pandemic. We always enjoyed seeing him in one of the squares, and hearing about what he was working on; especially some of the out of the ordinary legal matters he handled. We will miss his contribution to our monthly calls, his good nature, his smile and his presence. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends. Z''l

On behalf of the We The Action team, I extend our deepest condolences to Jeff’s loved ones. Jeff has been so impactful to our nonprofit community, having donated well over 100 hours of his time through our platform alone to help make peoples’ lives better. His work profoundly impacted individuals and organizations alike. We feel this loss and know that Jeff’s impact will continue to be felt for a long time.
