I am so sorry to hear about Manny, My condolences to the whole Silverman family, I have fond memories of Manny taking me to Hebrew school. He will be very missed,

I am saddened to hear of Dr. Silverman’s passing.

Manny was the chair of my dissertation committee at Loyola University. I will be forever thankful for his mentoring and guidance during my Doctoral studies. Manny could always be counted on to provide honest and constructive feedback. He would build your confidence and help you to stay focused and forward moving over the long haul. I always felt that I could be myself when I was with him and always felt comfortable with him. The other wonderful thing about Manny was his sense of humor. It’s was truly a joy to experience during the often stressful times of Doctoral studies. He had the ability to de stress anyone I think - sometimes just by a funny comment that just leveled the tension.

Manny had excellent experience and knowledge in Psychology. His skill for psychotherapy and in particular group psychotherapy was first rate. He helped me and our mutual friend and doctoral student Maurice Kaufman write a manuscript that was published on Group Therapy with Vietnam Veterans. We also published a paper together on my research studying Psychological Trauma among First Responder EMS/Paramedics Staff.

The man was kind, compassionate, thoughtful, unpretentious, open and available to others. I will ALWAYS remember after I defended my dissertation and was waiting while the committee reviewed their decision. The door opened and Manny comes walking out and said “Congratulations Dr Galloucis come back in”. Once in a life time stuff.

I am sad Dr. Silverman has now passed on. I am forever thankful to have known him.
