OBITUARY
In Memory of Irwin D. Nelson. Loving husband of over fifty years to the late Ruth and patriarch of four generations. His charm and wit endeared him to all he met. He brought out our best without us even realizing. Musicians he saw often dedicated songs to him in performance. His storytelling was engrossing and his timing impeccable; he could always make you laugh. He was a musical talent at a young age on violin and piano. As an engineer during WWII in Europe, his love of music never left him. He taught counterpoint at the GI University in Biarritz, France at war's end. He strolled through life in a light unhurried manner. Yet in contrast, he was a driver of uncanny ability, way before Google maps, who could always make better time than anyone. He lived every day and even found a second love late in life. He had been called dad, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa and even great-great grandpa... as well as "Mr. Easy", "Mr. Vegas" and lastly "The Chairman". We will never forget Irwin. Private graveside services were held at Shalom Memorial Park Cemetery. Donations to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 www.alz.org would be appreciated.
