Rabbi Leonard S. Kravitz, age 96.
Beloved husband of the late Hanna B. Kravitz nee Bensinger. Loving father of Dena (Neil) Rubnitz and Tamar (Dr. Scott) Rubinstein. Cherished grandfather of Noa and Jonah Rubnitz and Rachel, Naomi, and Jack (Rachel) Rubinstein. He is also survived by his sister Marilyn “Maize” (the late Albert) Hodus and his cousin Sally (Ingalls) Rich. Cousin Leonard was 5 years older than me and I always looked up to him for his values and sense of humor. Even though he lived out of town he came in to officiate at my Mom's funeral and I will never forget his remarks. He will always be remembered. Love Cousin Sally

I was so very touched to hear my dear friend Tamar and her children Naomi and Jack speak of their brilliant and humble father and grandpa and the devotion his dear son in law Scott showered him with
The breadth and depth of his brilliance, accomplishments and knowledge packed into one lifetime was mind blowing
I will always think of Jacks Yiddish swearing lesson from

Leonard was my coauthor, my colleague and my friend. I will miss him dearly. Beginning with the early years in which I was on faculty at HUC, we would walk together two or three times a week from Greenwich Village to midtown, so he could go to the Port Authority Bus Terminal and I could go to Penn Station. From there, we would both go home to New Jersey. We talked. We laughed. We listened and learned. And from those walks, we wrote 10 books together--of which I am very proud. In this small way, besides the many ways in which he impacted upon so many in so many ways, his torah will continue to teach future generations.
