OBITUARY
Karen Silbar nee Sokol, age 61.
Beloved wife of the late Gary B. Silbar. Beloved mother of Jake Silbar and Max Silbar. Dear partner of Gary Poteshman. Devoted daughter of the late Barry and the late Judy Sokol. Cherished sister of Ilene (Dan) Osran and Randi Sokol, and adored sister-in-law of Dave and Jill Silbar, and Steve Silbar. Treasured niece of Steve Turck (Valerie) and Marilyn Pritikin (Fred).
Karen passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on December 10. Born March 18, 1963, she was a shining light who brought so much love and color to her family, her friends, and to everyone she met. Karen was a warrior in her fight against cancer and in supporting her two sons following the passing of her dear Gary.
“Aunt Kiki” was loved by all her nephews and nieces: Jessica and Ben Osran; Jade and Judah Rubin; Becca, Maddy, and Emma Silbar; and Grant, Reagan and Faith Silbar. She will also be sorely missed by many cousins, relatives, and friends in Chicago and around the country who had supported her throughout her entire life.
Service will be held Friday at 11AM at North Shore Congregation Israel, 1185 Sheridan Road, Glencoe, IL 60022, with interment at Westlawn Cemetery.
