Beloved husband of Cheryl Cohen nee Chaplick. Loving father of Brad Cohen and Shawn (Jack) Elizondo. Cherished grandfather of Lucas Cohen and Larissa, Isabella and Jack Elizondo. Dear brother of Mickey (the late Sandy) Cohen and Goldie Cohen. Service Monday, 10:00 am at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Road, (one block North of Lake Cook Rd.) Buffalo Grove. Interment Westlawn Cemetery.

Dear Cheryl, I was so sorry to hear of Gene’s passing! I cannot imagine how the two of you have suffered these past months. I know Jim (Dr McCreary) would have done anything he could to ease your situation—and perhaps he did from wherever he is now. I hope he will keep trying to show you his love and presence as you adjust to this loss, one day at a time You were such an important person in his life! I am so thankful for your kids and the fact that you have them around to help you! Please let them know I think of you always. I am dealing with very low immune function due to chemo for my leukemia, so sadly I couldn’t come to Gene’s service or to Shiva to visit you . Please accept these virtual hugs from me and from Jim! Love you dear
