OBITUARY

It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of Jerome Carl Goldberg, lovingly known as Jay, on May 17, 2025, at the age of 45.
Jay was a gregarious, loyal, and passionate loving man whose charismatic spirit left a lasting mark on all who knew him. Born on June 3, 1979, Jay brought warmth and energy to every room he entered. He was the beloved son of Sheryl and Grant Goldberg, a devoted and adoring father to his only son and the light of his life, Max Grant Goldberg, and a proud and protective older brother to Sarah and Tricia. He was adored Uncle Jay-Jay to Jaxon, Levon, and Stevie, a dear nephew to Mark and Lynda and a good friend to many.
Jay’s love for his family was deep, and his presence will be missed. His journey ended far too soon, leaving an absence that can never truly be filled, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
A service to celebrate Jay’s life will be held on what would have been his 46th birthday, June 3, 2025, 2PM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd. (at Niles Center Road), Skokie, IL. Interment private.

We Remember Them by Sylvan Kamens & Rabbi Jack Riemer

At the rising sun and at its going down; We remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter; We remember them.
At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring; We remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer; We remember them.
At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of the autumn; We remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends; We remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live, for they are now a part of us as We remember them.

When we are weary and in need of strength; We remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart; We remember them.
When we have decisions that are difficult to make; We remember them.
When we have joy we crave to share; We remember them.
When we have achievements that are based on theirs; We remember them.
For as long as we live, they too will live, for they are now a part of us as, We remember them.

Though we cannot be there in person, our hearts are with you as you celebrate Jay’s life on what would have been his 46th birthday. Lou Ann and I are deeply saddened for you—Sheryl, Grant, Sarah, Tricia, their spouses and children, and all of Jay’s family and loved ones. We are especially thinking of Max, who will forever carry his father’s spirit with him. Jay’s loss is felt by so many, and we grieve alongside you. May you find comfort, strength, and peace in the love that surrounds you. With heartfelt sympathy and love,
🙏💓🫂

I will remember Jay for his quick wit, quirky humor and sharp intelligence. He displayed courage in facing difficult circumstances and sought to give the best he had to his son, Max. His positive attributes are passed on to Max and this will be his legacy.
