OBITUARY

John Cwi, age 82.

Dear brother of David (Cynthia) Cwi. Beloved son of the late Leon and Charlotte Cwi. He will be missed by his devoted caregiver Ernestina Gatchalian. John moved to Israel during the Six-Day War to help free up workers – who were called into service. While there he also worked at Ziv Technologies. He worked his entire life in Chicago including work at FermiLabs where he built magnets that were integral to their particle accelerator. In later years, John was head of computer systems for the Chicago Board of Trade and Chief Information Officer at Cook County Health. He had a love for guitars and for a time collected them.

Service Wednesday 11 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery (Sec. Beth Olam) 9900 Gross Point Rd, Skokie, IL 60076. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois 2833 West Howard Street Chicago, IL 60645 www.chabadillinois.com. I have such wonderful, precious memories of John Cwi. We were colleagues, at the county, for several years. As a matter of fact, John played a pivotal role in my selection and onboarding with the department. I am sorry to hear of his passing and will cherish the fond memories I have of John.

Rest Sweetly, John Cwi.

My condolences go out to the friends and family of John. I worked with John at the National Association of Realtors many years ago. Both as Database Administrators. I remember John with a great sense of humor and dedication to all he was involved with. We had many walks on Michigan Ave. contemplating the world's problems. He was one of the few guys I looked up to, literally and figuratively, as I'm 6'5" myself, with John being over 6'8"! I thought of John from time to time over the years and wondered how he was doing. It was sad to see that he has passed.

It was luck that my wife recognized John's obit as he passed on same day and at the same funeral home as my wife's long time friend Rollie Cohen. Perhaps its was God's intervention.

Anyway, again my condolences,
Andy Voloch
