OBITUARY
Frances Spiegel nee Green, 96
Beloved wife of the late Stanley Spiegel. Loving mother Scott Spiegel and William (Joelle) Spiegel. Proud Nanny of Zev and Talia. Dear sister of Bernie (Jerry) Berk.
Frances Spiegel was born in Chicago on November 1, 1927 to Lea and Dr. Samuel Green. Frances was a loving older sister to Bernie. Frances attended Von Steuben High School and furthered her education at The University of Illinois where she studied accounting. Frances was a sharp thinker with a creative mind and she expressed herself freely.
Following her time in college, Frances married the love of her life, Stanley Spiegel, and raised their two sons Scott and Billy with their dog Buddy. The Spiegel family was a close-knit bunch in the Skokie-Evanston community. They were always surrounded by family, nephews and niece Ira (Sue), Jeff (Ronna) and Teri Berk.
Frances celebrated the wedding of her youngest son, Billy (Joelle), in 1990. Shortly following her son’s nuptials, the family grieved the passing of Frances’ husband of 28 years, Stanley. Frances then moved to downtown Chicago where she lived independently until shortly following her 96th birthday.
As a breast cancer survivor, Frances was always resilient and composed. She was a tremendous role model to her two grandchildren Zev and Talia Spiegel. Authentic, honest and straightforward, Frances never left anything unsaid and bravely spoke her mind.
Frances made friends wherever she went with her inviting smile and genuine care. A lover of Frank Sinatra, modern art and especially mac and cheese, Frances left an impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Spiegel, and is survived by her sons Scott and Billy (Joelle) Spiegel, grandchildren Zev and Talia Spiegel and sister Bernie (Jerry) Berk.
