OBITUARY

Dr. Michael Rosenberg passed away on June 26, 2026. He was 80 years old.

Born to David and Eva Rosenberg in New York, Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Diana.

He is survived by Janice, his devoted wife for nearly 60 years, whose love and partnership were the foundation of a beautiful life together. He is also survived by his sons, Daniel and Gabriel; daughters-in-law Debbie and Ingrid; grandchildren Jonah, Evan, and Lucy; and many nephews, cousins, and friends near and far.

Michael built his career as an allergist, where he spent decades caring for patients and earning their trust. He understood that medicine was about far more than diagnoses and treatments—it was about presence, reassurance, and genuine human connection. Known for his curiosity, his sense of humor, and his love of a good joke, Michael touched countless lives throughout his career.

Above all else, Michael was devoted to his family and community. He was immensely proud of his sons and their accomplishments, and he found tremendous joy in watching his family grow. Being a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend brought him some of life’s greatest happiness.

Those who knew Michael will remember his curiosity and adventurous spirit, his quick wit and quicker laugh, his love of flying and of music, and his appreciation for art, travel, books, hiking, history, and a good conversation. He savored a Dewar's and an Italian beef in equal measure, rarely turned down a pretzel, loved a good gadget, and could watch The Maltese Falcon a hundred times and never tire of it.

A native New Yorker, Michael became a happy Chicagoan for many years, along with some amazing years spent in Moab, Utah. Though he traveled widely and lived fully, his greatest treasures were always the people he loved. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Michael passed to his boys the amazing gift of Knowing how to be a great friend. I have been fortunate enough to be friends with Gabe. Our friendship has always included humor, food and baseball. What more could you ask for? Michael taught him well.

Michael was one of a kind. So very gracious and warm to me and my family. Growing up with the Rosenbergs on Aldine will always be some of my favorite memories. Michael was a great husband, dad and friend. I will miss him.

Janice, Daniel, and Gabriel:
We were so sad to hear of Michel’s passing. He was such a kind, sweet man. We always appreciated how he and Janice would fly in from Chicago for all the bar and bar mitzvahs and weddings and other big family simchas. I still tell the story of how he would ask me not to tell his mother that he had piloted his own plane to the event because he did not want to worry her.

It was always special when Michael and Janice would return to Moab and Karen and I would hike together, share dinners together and just enjoy the magic around us. Michael was a very special person- humble, smart, kind and sensitive.

My deepest condolences on the loss of Michael. As my brother wrote, I think of Michael as such a kind and gentle man, thoughtful and curious. Many years ago, I remember how, Janice, you and Michael graciously loaned us your beautiful Moab home at the end of our memorable trip to Capital Reef, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.
