OBITUARY

Marcia Cohn Berk, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister passed away alongside family members on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the age of 77 at Eisenhower Hospital in Rancho Mirage, CA after a long-fought battle.
She was born on July 9, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois to Earl and Madelyn Cohn; she lived a full life and was dedicated to her family.
Marcia attended Von Steuben High School and graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington where she met Michael Berk, her husband of 56 years. Together they raised a family of 3 boys Brian, Scott, and Seth, taking great pride in nurturing them into fine young men. Marcia taught grade school, owned and managed a local coffee shop, and became a successful event consultant which merged into M & M Special Events. She became an avid golfer and enjoyed cooking and baking. Later in life, philanthropy became a passion.
Marcia was a warrior and fought through medical illnesses throughout most of her adult life. She fought with grace and set an example for her children and grandchildren. She touched so many people throughout her life and always made sure that everybody had a place at her dinner table, often inviting anybody and everybody to a holiday dinner.
She will be remembered for her warm smile and her quick wit. Marcia leaves behind her husband Michael, sons: Brian (Davi), Scott (Beth), and Seth (Lori), her grandchildren: Marley, Amanda, Eli, Jenna, Tyler, Matt, and Drew, her brother Steven Cohn and countless friends in the Chicago and Palm Springs communities.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Westlawn Cemetery (Sec. Gardenia) 7801 West Montrose Avenue Norridge, Illinois 60706 on Tuesday, August 13 at 3 PM. Marcia supported so many charitable causes. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Be The Match NW 5948 PO Box 1450 Minneapolis, Minnesota 55485 www.give.nmdp.org in her memory.

Marcia Berk will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to live in the hearts of her family and friends.

Marcia was a giving person as far back as I can remember. We often spent time together from a very young age and I remember many weekends as a child, at sleepovers, and school events. When I got married she stood up at my wedding, and over the years even though we lost touch, I often thought of her. She will be missed by many, but her strength remains an inspiration to all as we celebrate her life.
