We're so sorry for your loss. Jeff will be missed. He was such a light in our life. Joe and Jeff have been best friends for 57 years. They've been through thick and thin. Joe was so honored to be able to help support him through the past year. Unfortunately, we won't be able to be there, but we want you to know that we're thinking of you and we're praying for all of you!

I think I was five and Jeff four when the Shaffers moved in next door to the Flemings. I remember a few years when Jeff and Gene brought over homemade Christmas stockings (no doubt something they made in school) for Santa to fill and rushing over Christmas morning to see what goodies he left for them--sorry Diane and Craig, you were too old for Santa. We all grew up and moved away from Merrill St. long ago, but I was never surprised and always happy to run into Jeff--where else?--at a Cubs game. I'm praying for the people who loved Jeff while everyone grieves, knowing that good memories help in healing. God bless Jeff.
