OBITUARY

Norma May Rosenberg was a titan, who woke up every day with the engine running, eager to learn and leave an meaningful impression to everything and everyone she touched. She was 94 years old, with plenty of gas left in the tank.

Vibrant wife of the late Lester J. Rosenberg, persistent mother of Steven "Rosy" (Ellen Lippman) Rosenberg and Lee "Rosy" (Partner-Pamela Roussos) Rosenberg, inspirational grandmother of Mara Rosenberg, Ilyana Rosenberg and Noa Rosenberg, fully engaged aunt to all of her nieces and nephews, a force of nature in her leadership work in the community, and an integrally spirited ally, mentor and moral compass to a nation of friends.

Norma grew up in San Antonio, Texas; daughter of the late Melville May and late Ethel Sacks, and sister to the late Melville May Jr.; but lived her adult years in the Chicago area. So much to share in-between; words in this short bio will not properly do justice to her impact. Better to speak with those that knew her directly; there are so many across Chicago, the US and Israel.

Service is Tuesday 3PM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd (at Niles Center Road), Skokie. Interment private.

Memorial contributions may be made to an organization that she and Lester helped build over decades and an organization that she literally gave her life to; Israel Tennis and Education Centers. If you would like to do so, Norma instructed us this is the absolute best way to honor her; the family agrees.

Whenever I saw Norma, a big grin would involuntarily break out on my face. I knew the encounter would be fun, funny, interesting, challenging, but never boring. Norma was a woman of many passions and when you talked with her, you felt connected to the wider world of Norma. Really hard to think about not getting to see her again, but just imagine the parties she's planning now with Lester!

My darling"Miss Norma" was a very good friend to me. I will miss our private and very dirty jokes, and confidences that we shared in laughter and tears. She showed me love that I couldn't describe to another person and accepted mine back as well without any doubt or judgment. Just understanding compassion and care. She lived her life with dignity, grace, and respect for all who deserved it. She brightened the world with such beauty it's indescribable to me. I will miss having her wear my rings while I was doing her hair. That brought her such not. And every time she came in wearing one of her jackets if take it from her to hang out up, as some of you know, each and every one of them for me. She would tell me that it was kizmet that two people do different had for in those sizes perfectly. I am truly blessed that we called each other our " BEAUTIFUL FRIEND". THANK YOU MY BEAUTIFUL FRIEND FOR BEING SUCH AN IMPORTANT PART OF MY LIFE. Rest well my QUEEN.. I LOVE YOU .

The Rosenbergs were special people. I had the honor of knowing and working with first Lester, then Norma, starting in 1993. I first met Norma when she unexpectanly came to my studio with a pain in her hamstring muscles. I did not know who she was at that time, and all she said was "You have to fix it". I was able to relieve the pain and she became a client for the next 30 years. Norma was a constant inspiration to me and to everyone who knew her through my business. Trainers and clients alike marvelled at her physical and mental abilities. During Covid, we trained in her home and continued to do this twice a week until the end. Sometimes she would want to exercise while listening to Frank Sinatra, other times she would tell me jokes, uodate me on sports she had watched, or relate with pride about the accomplishments of her sons and granddaughters.
Norma was the epitomy of intelligent agiing. Feisty and often stubborn, she kept her mind and body active, and refused to let time defeat her. I will miss her greatly as my friend, client and being the amazing woman she was.
