OBITUARY

Ron Dieckman, age 78.

Loving husband of Sherry nee Russell. Dear stepfather of Raviv (Desiree) Balfour and Michael (Danyell) Balfour. Proud grandfather of Tyler Balfour. Cherished brother of the late Roxane Dieckman and the late Rosemary Murphy.

Ron was interested in so many things and loved to learn. He taught himself to play the harmonica and keyboard. He created mosaics and carved beautiful bears from stone. Ron loved to read, travel, and meet people from all over. He especially loved being near water.

Funeral service Wednesday 12 PM at Shir Tikvah 1424 183rd St, Homewood, IL 60430. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. I’m very saddened to hear this… Uncle Ron was a wonderful human being … He loved life, and enjoyed living life with Sherry to the fullest. He is rejoicing with my mom, and knowing I will see them both one day, eases my mind…

Ron always had a gentle smile and calm nature and I could tell how loving and sincere he was. His sense of adventure will be remembered and missed. I consider myself blessed to have known him and offer my loving condolences to Sherry and the family.

Dear Sherry and family,

It is with great sadness that we send our deepest condolences to you and your family on the loss of a loving husband, father and stepfather, brother and grandfather, Ron.
We spent a wonderful vacation in Morocco together, sharing long strolls in beautiful towns and cities and spectacular country vistas, never far from mountains and
desert terrain, and lovely oceanside beaches as well.. We truly imbibed the culture and vibrancy of a land and its people so unlike our own. Alas, we returned only to
suffer the loss of our own dear family matriarch. Travel was obviously high on the list of to do's both for Ron and Huguette. I am sure in her own way she is wishing the family
a life of peace and good health knowing you have been blessed with rich and fulfilling memories to guide you.

My memory of Ron always brings a smile to my face. I met him and Sherry at Raviv and Desiree’s wedding in Fiji. He was the tallest man on the island, and interacted with everyone through greetings, farewells, an occasional one liner, but mostly by just observing. There are many pictures of Ron in the background ….. just observing, often leaving one to wonder what on earth was he was thinking?? Ron and Sherry had a sense of adventure and great stories to share about their trips. Each of us following the wedding in Fiji have our own story to remember about Ron. Rest in peace, Ron.

We were all deeply saddened by the news of Ronnie’s death. I remember Ronnie as a small boy. My husband, George Dieckman, was Ronnie’s uncle and I remember Ronnie playing with my oldest daughter and his other cousins as a boy. We all have great memories of him from that time. Once he grew-up we remember how funny he was and we loved listening to his funny stories. He will be missed and in our hearts forever. Our thought and prayers are with his family.

We are very saddened by the loss of Ron. I have many memories of our discussions on world events over the years. He was an intelligent, kind and a caring person. I am happy that he got to enjoy life with you, Sherry, on all your worldly, cultural adventures and journeys. We are very sorry for your loss. May Ron Rest in Peace.

I remember him visiting us at my mom and dad’s house, Wendell and Ruth Riepe in Metropolis, Illinois , when we were just kids , those were the good old days . He was always so funny, very witty, and smart , He will be greatly missed .
