Shawn Jason Sockel, Age 45.

Loving brother and best friend of Brian Sockel (fiance Kimberly), David (Eugenia) Sockel, Melissa (Neil) Kaufman, Caryn (Robert) Straub, and Stephanie Kenyon. Treasured and fun-loving uncle of Haley, Emily, Carli, Siena, Zachary, Sydnie, Benjamin, Catryna, Jacob, and Logan. Devoted son of the late Howard and Lana Sockel. Cherished cousin of many and a devoted friend and "Buddy" to all who knew him. Service Wednesday, 11 AM at 195 North Buffalo Grove Road (One block north of Lake Cook Road) Buffalo Grove. Interment Waldheim. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of Shawn’s life. We had some really great and interesting times together. He was like my best friend at work and we were always looking out for each other. I will always think of the fun meals of spaghetti and tacos we shared and the fun photo sessions, when he asked me to take his picture.
“Man” will miss you, Shawn!

Memory Eternal for Shawn Sockel among the living! I was fortunate to have known him and his wonderful family for the few years leading up to his Bar Mitzvah. He was a dear young man, who needed and enjoyed social interaction, though it was a challenge for him. He taught me a lot about augmenting communication through the use of objects and routines. I wish his family all the best and want them to know that I sympathize with their loss.
