Louis Genesen (Lou), 96, a lifelong Chicagoan, passed away November 22

Devoted, loving husband of Judith (nee Levin), dear father of Lisa Genesen (David Tabolt), Dr. Mark Genesen (Leigh), David Kovacs (Patty), and Deborah Kovacs Sullivan (Nicholas). Treasured grandfather of Sarah Sullivan Lambertson (Dave), Lucy Sullivan Ejimmaduekwu (Ben), Jack Kovacs (Jenny), Claire Tabolt Fisher (Brett), Kelly Kovacs Schroeder (John), Emma Genesen Prall (Jacob), and William Genesen. Cherished great-grandfather of Silas and Ezra Lambertson, Jude Kovacs, Obi Ejimmaduekwu, and Rhea Fisher. Lou was preceded in death by his beloved parents Esther and Nate Genesen and sister Aline Averbach (Saul), as well as his best friend, Dr. Albert B. Gerbie. A graduate of Harvard School for Boys and the University of Chicago (BA, Ph.B, 1950), he had a long, successful career in finance beginning at South Side Bank and ending as Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Humiston-Keeling Corporation, a pharmaceutical wholesaler. A memorial service will be held at Chicago Sinai Congregation, 15 W. Delaware Place, on Friday, December 2 at 10:00 AM and will be livestreamed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Southern California in memory of Louis Genesen. All contributions will support the USC Dr. C. Paul Morrow Fund to ultimately support the Morrow Professorship in Gynecologic Oncology.
