OBITUARY

Elaine Friedman nee Becker, age 99.

Born September 7, 1923. Loving wife of 67 years of the late Jack Friedman. Cherished mother of Sheldon (Debi Kozeny) Friedman and the late Marlene Friedman. Dear sister of the late Dave (Herta) Becker and the late Miriam Becker. Loved by family, friends, and neighbors (especially Elena and Barbie - who thought of her as family). Cared for with dignity and tenderness by Pio and John. Elaine had an active and fulfilling life. Her early career was as a radio announcer, then her true passion as a drama teacher and theatre director. She enjoyed music, traveling, food, playing poker and family (hosting Shabbat dinners). Elaine will be missed by many. We are all saddened by the loss. Services Tuesday 12 PM at Chicago Jewish Funerals 8851 Skokie Blvd (at Niles Center Road), Skokie. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 820 Davis Street, Suite 400, Evanston, IL 60201, www.cancer.org, would be appreciated. Arrangements by Chicago Jewish Funerals - Skokie Chapel, 847.229.8822, www.cjfinfo.com

Being a friend of Shelly's for over half a decade, I have been fortunate to know Elaine for many years. She was a loving, caring and proud mother and wife. May her memory be a blessing to all that knew her..

Aunt Elaine as she preferred to be called had an infectious smile and laughter that filled the room. Her love of Fanny May Candy and L Woods was only second to her immense love for uncle Jack and her children. She helped me write and practice my Bar Mitzvah speech to perfection. She will be missed and may her memory last an eternity. Our deepest condolence.
