I met Art at the North Shore Community Bank in Wilmette about three years ago or so. I truly enjoyed talking with him about his life and family. I also saw him frequently at the Wilmette Library where he would use the computers (as did I). I knew about his health issues, but I found him always to be remarkable upbeat and engaging and I am sorry to hear that he has died. I haven't seen him for quite a while (at the bank) and I was wondering how he was doing. Now I know and it saddens me. I hope his family can be consoled knowing what an interesting and fine man he was always!!

I go back many years in knowing Arthur. He was a good friend of my cousin Morris Haas, so I had some meetings with him back in the 1940-1950 times in Albany Park.

He became my dentist and I saw him up until he retired from practice. I also had meetings with him and his wife outside of his practice.

I renewed my friendship with Arthur a few years ago finding we had much in common and enjoyed each others company. We were meeting almost every week at a restaurant. I admired the way someone of his age could maintain his independence and sharpness of thought. We also had many interesting phone conversations.

I will miss his company.

Uncle Art was such a special man. He meant the world to my Aunt Evelyn and often visited my mom and dad in Wisconsin. I’ve always admired his positive outlook and his sense of independence. He modeled a simple life and satisfaction with what God provided throughout his life. My husband and I will deeply miss him but we rejoice in his reunion with our Aunt Ev.
