OBITUARY

With love and remembrance, we share that Frances Kolman passed away on January 3rd, 2026 at the age of 87.

Born in Chicago, IL on December 20, 1938, to Gladys and Joe Murray, Fran, a classic beauty, brought love and kindness to everyone she knew. From her passion for movies and music to lipstick and necklaces, Fran appreciated the finer things in life, and had a joie de vivre matched by none. She would often affectionately tell her children, and especially her grandchildren, “Whatever your little heart desires!” This joy for life was complemented by her immense sense of humor when dealing with anything that came her way.

She was the devoted wife of Milton Kolman and loving mother to Mora (Michael), Beth (Michael) and Rich. She was a cherished grandmother to Samantha Sacks, Madeline Sacks, the late Cole Wexler, Cami Wexler, Myles Wexler, Thyme Kolman, and Grey Kolman, a beloved sister to Frank Murray, a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a devoted friend to many.

After a private family graveside service, a celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 6th at 4:30 pm at Hometown Coffee event space upstairs in Glencoe at 700 Vernon Ave, Glencoe, IL, 60022. The family respectfully requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, Virginia 22116-7023, www.diabetes.org.

Fran was one of the kindest, fun, and supportive women I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. She always had a smile on her face and made every person she encountered feel special. She loved her family with her entire heart and soul. I feel blessed to have been in her orbit over the years and will truly miss her presence.
May God bless you in your afterlife, Fran, and may your light and love shine on through all who knew and loved you.
I miss you already …

Fran was an amazing person and my beloved next door neighbor at Towers of Quayside in Miami. I will never forget the day that I moved in. She welcomed me with a nice bottle of wine and invited me to her beautiful condo. Fran kept it amazingly decorated ! I always commented on how wonderful her art collection was! Very bright colors were featured in her taste for art! I was lucky to start a friendship with Fran. This was 11 years ago. We would go out to dinner and Happy Hour and had loads of fun! I will always cherish those moments. Fran was a GREAT person. Had a real sense of style and humor. She will be missed by many people here in Miami !❤️

My memories of my aunt Fran go back to my early childhood spending holidays with my cousins in Miami or Chicago or Marco Island. My first memory was her delightful smile. Her expressions of love were constant throughout my life and we stayed in touch not only as family but in later years as friends. I was always so proud to introduce aunt Fran to friends because I knew she'd make the same impression on them as she did me - kind, warm, smart, funny, and lovable. I'll miss you Aunt Fran. You were always my favorite aunt:) Also, thanks for letting me live with you in Chicago for 6 weeks after I graduated college. It remains one of my most cherished memories.

With love always,
Michael

Such sad news. My grandmother was Mary Murray and my mom Kay Dalton would always refer to my Aunt Fran as one of her best friends. Love from Long Beach, California xoxo

Aunt Fran will always hold a special place in my heart. Some of my favorite memories are of going to visit her in Marco Island and in Chicago for Thanksgivings. I will always remember our “just the 2 of us” lunches at Carpaccio’s. I”ll always smile thinking about how she’d say, “ Nikki, you can tell me anything, I’m sworn to secrecy.” I will miss her deeply and feel grateful for the love, laughter, and quiet understanding she gave so freely. ❤️
